August 2012 Prayer Letter from Travis Snode
Dear Pastors & Praying Friends,
July began with several significant events. Heather Trojahn, a young lady who had been interning with us since January, returned to America. Heather was a real blessing during her time here and has been greatly missed. Also, we had a large mission team from Temple Baptist Church in Flower Mound, TX do outreach for us and sing in our services, and Pastor Tony Howeth from Covington, GA preached at the church.
Pastor Howeth and Vanessa and Valerie Carpenter came over to help us during our teen camp. We had an amazing week of camp with many of the young people taking significant spiritual steps. Even several weeks after the camp, we can still see the effects of the decisions they made. It was great to partner with Pastor Stephen Kennedy and Liberty Baptist Tabernacle to host the camp. Sam Quinn did a great job directing the camp, and as usual, God greatly used Pastor Howeth’s preaching.
The last week in July, we had another mission team of eight young people from Maranatha Baptist Bible College and two young men from Northern Ireland helping us with our evangelistic meeting. Every afternoon, we did outreach in the city, passing out nearly 10,000 pieces of literature. Each evening, we had a gospel service for the adults and a program for the children. Over the course of the week, we had 20 first-time visitors and 47 folks come out to our BBQ on Saturday! How we thank the Lord for His blessings on the meetings. Please pray for fruit that will remain from this meeting.
At the end of July, another intern, Tiffany Kahler returned home as well. She was also a great blessing.
Right now, our mission team is in North Africa. Please pray for Sam, James, Kathleen, Andrew, and Hannah.
The rest of this month will be quite busy as we finish packing everything and preparing to return to America on furlough. We fly out on September 5, 2012 and return on July 4, 2013.
