From Sam Quinn: August Prayer Letter

Sam Quinn has served in Northern Ireland for the past three years, teaching the Bible, training men, and preaching the gospel.  He has been a tremendous help to me, a great encouragement to the folks of Northwest Baptist Church, and a great personal friend.  Below is his August prayer letter.  I would like to ask you to read it and to please keep him in your prayers as he seeks to follow the Lord’s will for the future.

Dear praying friends and supporters,

This past month has been quite busy and your prayers and communication have been a blessing. We had a wonderful time in our Evangelistic and Children’s Meetings with quite a few new visitors and a more consistent crowd than I have seen for the meetings. We were blessed to have the help of an American missions team from all over the United States. It was incredible to see strangers come together and work in harmony to reach out with the Word of God.

On the 11th of August we had the licensing and installation service for James Wilson as the new pastor at Northwest Baptist Church. It was a blessing to see the people and pastors, local and American, putting their “seal of approval” on James taking over at the end of the month. I was blessed to be allowed to share the requirements of a pastor with the people and give my testimony of James’ character and ability. I request that you would continue to pray for him and the church as they head into this new chapter for the Northwest Baptist Church.

The licensing service was the last service for the Snodes at Northwest Baptist before they headed off to London on 12 August. Travis has been a good friend and mentor in my time here, and his wife Teri was very gracious, especially when I was learning to lead music. I look forward to keeping in touch with them and the children in the days ahead. The Lord has moved in their heart to work in London, and I have every faith that the Lord will prosper them in their work. Please pray for them as they begin their ministry there.

Finally, I am returning home at the end of the month. I fly out of Belfast on the 31st of August, and it is with the realization of the closing of this chapter of my life that I have learned the meaning of “bittersweet.” I have been blessed to train and to work here, to meet some great Christians, and to try my mettle in the ministry of the Word. I look forward now to what the Lord has in store for me next. Personally, I would love to continue in missions; I just don’t know where yet. Pray for me as I prepare to leave, travel, and look to the future.

Prayer Request:

  • James
  • Northwest Baptist Church
  • The Snodes in London
  • My travels home

May God richly bless you.
Sam Quinn
