The worst thing that could happen to us as Christians is not that we be hurt, harmed, or killed, but that we become afraid, silent, and cowardly in the work of the gospel.
Often, “the worst” never comes, but the fear of “the worst” is all that is necessary to make us back off. God is warning us and encouraging us through Paul to not let anything make us afraid.
I wonder what we are afraid of? Rejection? Financial loss? Persecution? Embarrassment? Something else? We should identify that fear and confess it to God. We need to fast in and fight for the faith of the gospel. It is a fight worth fighting. It is a cause worth being courageous for.
