Able to Go Forth to War (Numbers 1)

Numbers 1:3 3 From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.

The nation of Israel had 603,550 men twenty years old and upward that were able to go forth to war (1:45-46). This was important because they were headed into hostile territory. There would be outright attacks and subtle deceptions. God had a land of rest and promise for them, but it would require faith and courage. They would have to fight.

The same is true for us who are saved. God had delivered us from sin and the world and promised us victory. But we must go forward by faith and enter into all that God has for us. If we fail to trust God, we will wander and not experience the victory He has for us.

So the question for us today is – are we able to go forth to war? Have we put on our spiritual armour? Are we prepared to do all to stand today? Will we fight the good fight of faith?
