Winter Retreat Report

We arrived back into Derry at about noon today from our first Winter Youth Retreat. We had a wonderful time and God really blessed.  We only had four adults and four teenagers, but it was a very special time and a great group to start off our first winter retreat.

We stayed at the Corick Outdoor Centre in Newtownstewart, Co. Omagh, which is a converted schoolhouse.  The centre is quite rustic but very cheap and a great spot for exploring the hills and countryside in Co. Tyrone.  We arrived about midday on Thursday and stayed until Saturday morning.  During the 48 hours, we hiked, passed out tracts, had about 12 hours of teaching/preaching, built a bonfire, played games, had team competitions, and enjoyed some great food.

I appreciate so much the workers – Kim Devlin, Sam Quinn, Teri Snode, Mike Smith, and others who did things to make the retreat possible.  It was a real blessing to have my father-in-law, Mike Smith, there to preach to the young people.  He and my mother-in-law are here for about two weeks, and they are such a blessing to us.

I look forward our youth camp this summer and next year’s winter retreat.  We will be giving you more details on the camp soon.  Thank you so much for praying.  Please pray that the seeds that were sow in the lives of the young people will bring forth fruit.  Pray for God to raise up a band of mighty men and women whose hearts the Lord has touched.  Below is a video from our hike up a mountain in Gortin Glen Forest Park.
