Hurting Yet Rejoicing

hope

Job 19:25-26 For I know that my redeemer liveth, And that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, Yet in my flesh shall I see God:

Job was hurting deeply. In one day, he lost all his possessions and all his children. His grief must have been unbearable. His wife was not encouraging, and his friends were condemning. His body was wracked by sickness and pain. He felt his God had forsaken him.

Yet, Job was rejoicing! He rejoiced in the fact that His redeemer lived. He rejoiced in the assurance that one day He would rise after his body died. He rejoiced in the prospect of seeing God.

What a paradox. Hurting yet rejoicing! This is the Christian hope. We are living not for this world but for the next. We are able to have a renewed inward man though our outward man is destroyed day by day. May we be willing to die to self today, and may we be renewed in the spirit of our minds as we meditate on all the spiritual blessings we have in Christ. We may hurt, yet we an rejoice. We will one day see God!
