Time To Be Teachers
There comes a point in every Christian’s development when he need to move into teaching others. If he does not, then he will go backward in maturity rather than forward. Listen to Hebrews 5:12:
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
God tells this group here that it was time for them to be teachers, but they needed someone to reteach them. Instead of moving on to strong meat, they were back on milk.
We are saved and born into God’s family not to be sterile but to reproduce in the lives of others what we have been taught. If we refuse to move forward in teaching and discipling others, we will go backward in maturity and have to start over again.
I am afraid that is many of our lives the thing we need is not more teaching but more obeying. We have learned so much and applied so little that all the spiritual food we are receiving is making us fat instead of healthy and strong.
Truth must be used for truth to profit. If we just keep taking in and taking in without applying, we become prideful and weaker. If we apply and teach others, then the truth gets imbedded into our lives and makes us stronger.
