Going Before Us (Exodus 23)

Exodus 23:20–21 20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. 21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.

God led His people out of Egypt and was leading them into the Promised Land. The land of promise was a place of blessing and victory. It was the place God has chosen for them. And He was going to accompany them and help them all along the way.

God promised to send an Angel before them. This Angel would watch over them in the way and bring them to the place God had prepared for them.

God does the same for us. He saves us and calls us out of the world. He wants to use in a special way. He has a plan and purpose for us. And He goes before us and with us, to help us, and to protect us on that journey. Our job is to listen to God’s Holy Spirit, to allow Him to strengthen us, and to follow His guidance.
