An Invitation to the Our Generation Summit – Missions Retreat

A few days ago, I was reading Ezra chapter two. Toward the end of the chapter, I read these verses:

Ezra 2:68–69 And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the Lord which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place: 69 They gave after their ability unto the treasure of the work threescore and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests’ garments.

What I noticed was their enthusiasm and commitment to this great work of rebuilding God’s temple. They “offered freely” and “gave after their ability.” And the question I asked was why?

Why would thousands of people leave their homes, give of their finances, travel many months, and face great hardship in Israel?

The answer, I believe, was because:

  1. They knew that the temple represented the honour and glory of God.
  2. Once rebuilt, they could reinstitute proper worship of God through sacrifice.
  3. They were returning home to the land God promised them.

In the same way, we have a cause that required enthusiasm, commitment, and sacrifice. It is the cause of carrying the gospel message to the nations, which will glorify God, show people how to be right with God, and lead to an eternal home with God.

If the idea of God’s name being worshipped all over the earth as people believe on Jesus excites you, then you will love the Our Generation Summit!

The Summit is all about getting the gospel to the world. At the Summit, you will hear from missionaries who are serving the Lord in various countries around the world. You will learn about how you can be involved, and you will be challenged and equipped to do your part in God’s mission.
