A Warning to Egypt – Jer 46
As prophet to the nations, Jeremiah now turns to Egypt. A nation that had wielded great power for a long time would now face the judgment from the Lord again.
God described in great detail how it would all happen, how the Babylonians would come up against them. And how Pharoah, Egypt, their gods, their kings, and all who trust in Pharaoh would fall.
The point of this prophecy was to be a warning to the nation, to give them time to repent before judgment came. God shows that His people would be saved and protected. Individuals who repented would no doubt be saved as well.
The awesome reality of God’s judgment on the nations of the world should sober us. It should cause us to proclaim the gospel so men can be saved and spared the wrath to come.
