Give Glory to God – Luke 17

And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.” — Luke 17:17–18

Ten lepers cried out for mercy. They called Jesus, “Master,” and pleaded for healing. Jesus told them to go shew themselves to the priest. As they went to the priest, they were healed!

Imagine how those men must have felt. A new lease on life. Now they could re-enter society. They could be reunited with their families. Everything changed for them in one moment.

Despite the joy their healing caused, only one man, a Samaritan, stopped to consider the One who did the healing. He returned to Jesus realising that the bigger lesson was not what had happened to him and the other men but what this meant about the One who did the healing.

He acknowledged Jesus as God and believed on Him. He gave glory to God and was not only healed of leprosy but sin.

How often does God intervene for us in big ways, doing miraculous things, and yet how often do we stop to glorify God? So many people take all of God’s daily blessings for granted, never considering who is the One doing the blessing, never giving God the glory He deserves. May we take time today to return and give glory to God. He is worthy!
