God Is No Respecter of Persons – Acts 10
“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:” — Acts 10:34
The goal of God to get the gospel to all people cannot be denied as we read the book of Acts. There is a steady and definite progression of God’s Holy Spirit moving the church to take the gospel to the nations.
All along the way, world evangelism was met with various amounts of resistance, whether from people within the church or without the church. In Acts 10, we find Peter struggling to accept that He should cross cultural barriers to take the gospel to Gentiles.
But the supernatural visions, the appearance of an angel, and the coming of the Holy Spirit on Cornelius and those with him that believed certainly affirm that God wanted the gospel to get to all people.
As Peter stands before Cornelius, he admits that he now understands that God is no respecter of persons. He sees that God wants all men to come to him and there no difference between the Jew and the Gentile when it comes to their need to be saved, the way they are saved, and the desire of God to save them.
May God help us to not be respecters of persons either! May we have a vision to reach people all around the world and of all cultures, and may we do everything we can to get the gospel to everyone. God loves them all and wants them all to be saved.
