Praise the Lord for His Unsearchable Greatness – Psalm 145

The incredible character of God is revealed and magnified in this Psalm, which is why David opens with a commitment to praise and blessed God for ever and ever (v.1). Every day, he promised to bless the Lord and to do so for ever and for ever (v.2).

Then he elaborates on the unsearchable greatness of the Lord (v.3), a greatness that is declared from one generation to another (v.4-7). The Lord is gracious, full of compassion, slow to anger, and of great mercy (v.8). He is good and merciful to all (v.9). All His works praise Him (v.10-12). His kingdom is everlasting (v.13). He upholds all who fall (v.14). He feeds every living thing (v.15-16). He is righteous in all his ways and hears all who call upon him. He preserves the righteous and destroys the wicked (v.17-20). Then, in conclusion, David says, ‘My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.’

It would do us good each and every day to stop and meditate on how great and gracious God is. We should also tell others of His greatness and talk a lot of Who He is and all the wonderful things He does. How will we today speak much of the Lord’s greatness? How can we tell others of Who He is and the wonderful things He has done?
