The Abundant Grace of Our Lord – 1 Timothy 1

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.’ — 1 Timothy 1:14

Though ignorant of his error, Paul was a man who blasphemed, persecuted and injured God’s people. He was the church’s number one human enemy. He hated everything about Jesus and his followers. Yet God saved him, transformed him, and put him in the ministry! Paul never forgot the abundant grace of the Lord in His life. And neither should we.

When is the last time we meditated on all that God has done for us? When was the last time we stopped to thank God for who He is and what He as done for us?

In 1 Timothy 1, Paul warns Timothy about those who use the law unlawfully (v.3-8). He shows that the law is designed to show men their sin and point them to the glorious gospel of the blessed God (v.9-11). After mentioning the gospel, Paul then begins to thank and praise the Lord for all He has done in His life (v.12-17).

Let us praise the Lord today for His abundant grace! Let us thank Him for all that He has done. He has been good. He has been gracious. He is worthy of our praise!
