Vacillating Leadership – Jer 38
King Zedekiah is the epitome of weak and vacillating leadership. When one group wants to imprison Jeremiah he allows them to do so. When another person wants to set him free, he listens to them.
Even when God clearly through Jeremiah tells him to not remain in the city, he does not have the courage to obey. He just goes back and forth, unable to do what is right, unable to make the right decision.
His main problem is that he does not fear the Lord. Without the right priority, he is blown about by indecision and confusion.
May God help us to establish the priority of obedience to God. And may God’s Word and God’s truth guide us in everything. It should help us know who to listen to and who not to listen to do. And give us the courage to do what we know is right.
