Without Faith – Hebrews 11
‘But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.’ — Hebrews 11:6
The most essential thing for pleasing God is faith. It is impossible for us to please God without it. We must believe that God exists and is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.
This truth summarised much of what Hebrews 11 and the entire book of Hebrews is about. Faith is the way that all the people of the past lived and walked with God. Everything they did was by faith, and everything we do should be by faith.
So, what are we doing ‘by faith’? If we are not living by faith and walking by faith, then we will not receive a good report of God (v.2,39). I want to please the Lord. I want to live in such a way that He can reward me. The key is to live today by faith, trusting God and believing Him.
