All the World Is Guilty Before God – Romans 3

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” — Romans 3:19

This verse summarises the book of Romans to this point. Before we will appreciate the work of Christ on the cross, we must understand how sinful and how guilty we are before God.

We are not good people trapped in an evil world. We are sinful, guilty people who live in a world marred by our sin.

The law of God is talking about the law of Moses that was given to the Jews. It was given to them not to make them righteous but to show them how unrighteous they are.

It was given to stop their mouths. And the fact that the Jews could not keep the law shows all of us that we would be unable to keep it as well. Therefore, the conclusion is that we are all guilty before God and we have no excuses to offer.

Has there been a time that you acknowledged your guilt before God? Or are you still running your mouth trying to justify yourself? Not until we realise how lost we are will we be in a position to receive the work of Christ.

Also, if you are saved, do you realise that everyone around you is lost. They are not okay. They need Jesus. And we must tell them!
