As many of you know, we spent our first nine years in the UK in Northern Ireland planting Northwest Baptist Church in Derry/Londonderry.
Derry is a city that has been at the heart of the modern-day “Troubles” and has experienced its share of pain. The unique cultural, religious, and political factors has made it a very resistant area for the gospel and church planting. But the city desperately needs gospel-preaching, Bible-teaching churches.
Northwest Baptist Church is the first Baptist church in that part of the city! The church has been blessed over the years with conversions, baptisms, and real spiritual growth. God is using the church, under the leadership of local pastor, James Wilson, to make a real impact through weekly services, faithful Bible teaching, street and house-to-house evangelism, a radio ministry, and many other ways.
One big final hurdle for the church to become fully indigenous is to purchase a building for the church. For years, they have met in rented facilities, but we are hoping to purchase for them their own building.
The church is going to try to pay for half of the building through special offerings and a mortgage, but I am trying to help them by raising the other half – $75,000. We have set a deadline of March 31, 2016 to have the $75,000 raised, and I need your help!
I would like to ask you to pray about giving a generous one-time donation to the Northwest Baptist Church building fund. Maybe you could make this a special project for your missions conference or a part of your Christmas offering.
