September 2020 Update

On September 1st, we arrived in London after a great final month in America. Moving overseas and saying goodbye to family is never easy, but we could definitely sense the Lord giving us grace. Everything went so well with moving out of our house in Georgia, packing for the trip, and saying goodbye to our families and our home church.

The flight over was only about 20% full, so we had lots of room. We arrived at our house two hours ahead of schedule, and by noon a moving company had finished bringing all of our stuff from storage. Several folks from the church stopped by to bring some packages, lunch, and groceries.

For the past two weeks, we have been confined to our house going through a mandatory fourteen-day quarantine period. Thankfully, Britain has great delivery services of everything from groceries to furniture. We used the time to unpack and set up our house.

Yesterday was the first day of school for our kids, and today was our first day out of the house. We enjoyed getting a “full English breakfast” and a “traditional roast dinner.” I may have even had coffee and a scone with jam and clotted cream for lunch! (Haha)

The last major step in getting set up is to buy another vehicle. We already have one car that we left with friends this past year, but I am hoping to buy a van that can be used for ministry purposes as well. Please pray about that.

Also, please pray for Downham Baptist Church in London. We will start having services there again on Sunday after meeting only online for almost six months. The folks seem quite excited. I am very encouraged by their faithfulness to keep in touch online.

Finally, pray for wisdom in how to reach out with the gospel. There are still quite a few restrictions here about large meetings and social distancing, so we need wisdom in how to share the gospel in the current climate.
