How To Keep Preaching the Gospel
As Paul reflected on his ministry before King Agrippa, he attributed his ability to continue on to the help of God. In a vision from God, he was instructed to preach the gospel to the Gentiles. When he preached, he faced deadly opposition from the Jews.
He endured much more than he summarized in the verses below. Despite all that he faced, he continued to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ even in prison.
How was he able to continue? Was it his talent, the force of his personality, his experience and background, his training? No. It was due to the help of God. Listen to what he has to say in Acts 26:22-23
Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.
None of us – no matter how talented, how well trained, or how determined – can continue on for God in our own strength. We must have God’s help. If we have God’s help, then we can go against the odds, face the opposition, and endure day after day for the Lord and His glory.
May we rely upon the Lord’s strength today. May we received the help He wants to give. May we come to the end of ourselves and trust in Him for help and strength.
