All the City Was Moved – Matt 21

And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.” — Matthew 21:10–11

The first coming of Christ was not subtle. Though Jesus was born of humble parents and grew up in obscure circumstances, His entrance into our world was anything but quiet.

At His birth, angels appeared in the sky to shepherds and, later wise men came to worship Him like a king. His ministry began with a public miracle at a wedding and then He continued to have great crowds follow Him for almost the entire time.

In Matthew 21, we once again see Him make a great stir as He enters the city of Jerusalem, on a donkey and her colt. The people praise Him as the Son of David, and the whole city of Jerusalem is moved, wondering “Who is this?”

Jesus came to make an impact. He came to move people and stir up hearts. He came to change allegiances. He came to be King of lives.

Sadly, many who appeared to be moved in the right way then turned against Him. But the lesson is the same. Jesus should move us. His coming should have a huge impact on our lives.

The truth of who He is and what He has done should continue to have a dramatic impact in our lives. It should produce faith, worship, surrender, and love. How have you been moved by Christ? And how are you daily being moved by Christ and His work and Word?
