Aquila and Priscilla – Acts 18

And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.” — Acts 18:26

I am always impressed with Aquila and Priscilla. This couple did so much to spread the gospel and to start churches in several cities.

They allowed Paul to stay with them (18:2) when he first moved to Corinth. They travelled with Paul to Ephesus (18:18) and allowed the church to meet in their home (1 Cor 16:19). They helped to disciple Apollos (18:26).

At one point, they risked their lives to save Paul (Rom 16:4). And when back in Rome, they hosted the church in their house (Rom 16:5). As a result, Paul said that not only did he give thanks to them but all the churches of the Gentiles should be grateful for them (Rom 16:4).

Truly, they were a remarkable couple who loved the Lord, loved God’s servants, loved the church, and generously gave and did all they could to further the Lord’s work.

I am so thankful for the Aquilas and Priscillas that I have met over the years that have encouraged and helped me and so many others. I pray for more couples and families that will give all that they have and are to spread the gospel, make disciples, and start churches.
