“Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord...Jeremiah 17:5,7
Blessedis the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.”
Everyone believes something. And everyone trusts in someone. Even if it is just faith in self and one’s own opinions, ideas, perceptions, and experiences.
The most common places for us to put our trust is in some human effort or idea. But God tells us that those who trust in man and the arm of the flesh are cursed. To trust in man is to not rust in God, it is to disregard what God thinks and wants and to exalt man over God.
We should be trusting in the Lord. We should be putting our hope in the Lord. If we do, we will be blessed and established like a fruitful tree.
So simple questions for us today:
- Who are we depending upon?
- Are we looking to men or to God?
- If we say we are trusting God, then is that seen in how we obey the Lord and life for Him. Real faith result in real action.
