Obstinate – Isa 48

Obstinate is defined as ‘stubbornly refusing to change one’s opinion or chosen course of action, despite attempts to persuade one to do so.’

‘Obsinate’ is how God describes Israel, “Because I knew that thou art obstinate, And thy neck is an iron sinew, And thy brow brass;” — Isaiah 48:4

They would not listen to the Lord. They would not believe in Him. They would not turn from their idols.

So God, continued to do things to show them beyond any doubt who He is, what He can do, and how He is greater than all other ‘gods’.

How submissive are we? Do we give in to the Lord and His Word? Or do, we refuse to change our opinions and course of action?

Sadly, we often have the same problem as Israel. We harden our neck and dig our heels in and nothing will change us. We are obstinate and stubborn, and so we bring chastisment and punishment on us.
