We are pleased to share some very good news concerning Northwest Baptist Church in Derry. As you know, we expressed some concerns in our last couple of letters about the church’s future. One big prayer request for the church has been answered in that we have found a building to purchase for the church! A three-story house in city center came on the market last week. Pastor James immediately arranged to view it, and after getting a builder to look at it, we made an offer.
Our offer was accepted, and so now we have just a few weeks to raise $50,000 to cover the remaining purchase amount, legal fees, and a few renovations. This final amount combined with the money already donated will finalize this project. We appreciate all those who have prayed and given over the last couple of years, and we ask you to please make this a special matter of prayer. We need the final $50,000 by January 1, 2019, at the latest. To find out more, go to www.oakgrovehope.com or click the image below for an introduction to the building by James Wilson.
Not only is it encouraging to see the Lord providing a building for the church, but it is also great to see the Lord adding new believers to the church. As I mentioned last month, an Iranian couple recently came to faith there in Derry. James has been discipling them and they are getting baptized this week!
We are also excited to report that another couple is joining our team here in the United Kingdom. Sam and Beth Quinn have recently surrendered to come to the UK. Sam worked with us for three years in Northern Ireland from 2010 to 2013 and was a huge blessing. He is a very gifted person, and I know that he and his family will be greatly used in this country. Please keep them in prayer as they raise support on deputation. If you would consider giving them a meeting, I know they will be a blessing. The Lord continues to bless the work here in London at Downham Baptist. We are grateful for the spiritual growth we are seeing in the believers here. Many people continue to step up to teach, disciple, and reach out with the gospel. The church recently had several outreach events including a “Key to Success” event and then a “Glow Party” with games, activities, and a gospel message. Please continue to pray for the church to mature and become a strong model church. Pray as well for men who will be willing to go into the ministry to preach God’s Word.
Thank you so much for all of your faithful prayers and support!
