“…and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD” This phrase is repeated over and over again in the book of Ezekiel emphasizing that God has one main goal – that all people know Him and acknowledge Him as Lord and God.
Everything God does to and for Israel, blessing them and punishing them for their sin, was to “set [His] glory among the heathen” and “so the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward” (v.21-22). Then when God restores Israel and brings them back from their enemies and their captivity, it will be so they will “know that I am the LORD their God” (v.28).
God wants me to know that He is the LORD. He wants me to see that He always keeps His Word, that He is over all things, that I can trust Him and should praise Him. He wants to be magnified through my life. And I should say, “For me to live is Christ and to do is gain! May everything I do and say today and in every way bring honor and glory to Christ!
