Dear Pastors & Praying Friends,
On January 9th, Missionary Chris Waye and I flew to Northern Ireland for a visit to Northwest Baptist Church in Derry (Londonderry), Northern Ireland. It was exciting to see the church continuing on for the Lord, the leaders growing, and the nice rented building that God has given them in the center of town.
On this trip, I informed the church that God is leading us to move on to plant churches elsewhere in the United Kingdom when we return from our furlough. Our plan has always been to plant the church, train a pastor, and move on, but having to say goodbye is never easy.
While we have been on furlough, it has been great to see that the church has continued on in our absence and that God is raising up leaders in the church who can carry on when we leave.
We will continue to stay in close communication with the leaders of the church to help as much as possible, but God has really confirmed in these last few months that He is leading us to launch out into other areas of the country.
We believe that the next step for us is to move to the city London, for which we have been burdened a long time. The city of London is not only the largest city in the United Kingdom with nearly 14 million people in the London metro area, it is a key city for reaching Europe and the world with the gospel. London is a very diverse city with people from 200 different countries calling the city home.
This is a very natural step for us because we have obtained our British residencies and been learning the British system since we moved to Northern Ireland in 2004. We believe that God has uniquely prepared us for this opportunity. All the things we have learned and experienced in Northern Ireland will be a great asset to us with this new endeavor.
God has expanded and broadened our vision to reach not only Ireland and the United Kingdom but also Europe and the world with the gospel. We are excited about moving to this great city to win souls, start churches, and train men who can be sent out all over Ireland, the UK, and the world with the gospel.
Please pray for the following things in the days that lie ahead:
- Safety and wisdom as we finish our furlough.
- Provision of 19% more financial support as the city of London is much more expensive than Derry (e.g. the cost of renting a 3 bedroom house is anywhere from $2500-$3000 per month).
- Blessing and strength for the church in Derry.
- Open doors for us in London.
- More laborers for the harvest.
Thank you so much for your faithfulness and prayers.
– Travis & Teri Snode
